BSc, BVSc (Hons)Experience
Karina, the founder of Harrison Veterinary Clinic, is a Canberra local who grew up in Gungahlin. She completed a Bachelor of Science at the Australian National University while working as a veterinary nurse and receptionist at Gungahlin Veterinary Hospital, later graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons) from the University of Melbourne. Since then, she has worked in a range of small-animal and emergency practices across Canberra and the surrounding region, as well as spending time practising in the United Kingdom.
Established in January 2025, Harrison Veterinary Clinic reflects Karina’s commitment to high-quality, community-centred veterinary care. She believes that good veterinary care starts with genuine relationships—between the team, clients, and the pets they’re trusted to look after. Her goal is to support both the local community and the wider animal-care community by providing thoughtful, compassionate care grounded in real connection. Karina deeply values the strong relationships formed within the Canberra veterinary community. Her professional interests include complex case workups, senior patient care, dermatology, and emergency presentations—areas where she finds great reward in helping pets and their families navigate challenging situations with confidence and support.
Outside of work, Karina enjoys life with her husband, Darren, and their children—Rhys, Aurora, and Linnea—along with their much-loved canine family: Pippi the beagle, Hattie the Beagle Harrier, and Betty the Cavoodle. Many clients will recognise Pippi, who regularly visits the clinic for her rehabilitation sessions. Karina also enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee and tending to her edible and bee-friendly garden.
Karina looks forward to meeting you and your pets, and to welcoming you into the Harrison Veterinary Clinic community.
